IPSWICH, England () – English singer Ed Sheeran is the new sponsor of the T-shirt for the Ipswich Third Division football club.
A longtime Ipswich fan, known for the songs “She of You” and “Perfect”, signed a one-year contract on Thursday to sponsor men’s and women’s T-shirts next season.
“The football club is a big part of the local community and that’s how I show my support,” said the 30-year-old musician, who grew up in the area. “I’ve always enjoyed the trip to Portman Road and I’m looking forward to returning there once the fans are allowed back in the stadiums.”
Ipswich is in the middle of the standings in League One, with two games left, while the women’s team plays in the fourth division.
The US consortium recently bought the club and pledged to invest to advance to the second division.
“With the arrival of new owners from the US, Ipswich fans, myself included, will certainly have exciting times ahead,” Sheeran said.
The new logo contains mathematical symbols and the word “TOUR”. His albums use mathematical symbols as names.
King Harry Kane of England is a sponsor of the T-shirt of the Fourth Division’s Leyton Orient Club, his former club. The Tottenham striker announced his three-year deal last May. Shirts carry news thanks to front-line workers battling a coronavirus pandemic.
