A Missouri woman probably crawled weapon prison hiding it inside his body, authorities say.
The Buny County Sheriff’s Office said the woman was searched three times while entering the prison, and the firearm was never found.
Authorities say Amy Natasha Wilhait, 39, was arrested on Valentine’s Day and was wanted by police. But no weapon was found.
A prison sergeant conducted a “thorough search of understanding” when he arrived.
Finally, an officer conducted a naked search of Wilhait before he was released to the general population of the prison.
On Wednesday, when Wilhelt entered prison two weeks later, prison staff found a .22-caliber pistol in his possession, authorities said.
The sheriff’s office says it is 4 inches long, about 2 1/2 inches wide and weighs about 4.6 ounces.
“Wilhait is thought to have hidden a small gun in his body when he was taken to the Boon County Jail (February 14),” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Wilhait is now charged with sending or holding a prisoner for, among other things, imprisonment.
The district is located in central Missouri.
