Mayer, who was arrested in June last year, remains in custody on $ 10,000 bail charges, according to Elsworth’s lawyer Jeffrey Tutaker. According to state court documents, Mayer plans to file a lawsuit in the Hancock County Joint Criminal Court on March 15.
At 10 a.m. Tuesday, Bangor Federal Court is set to change the video of Meyer pleading guilty to possession of federal child pornography. Mayer pleaded not guilty to federal charges in November.
Meyer faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of no more than $ 250,000 if convicted of child pornography.
August’s lawyer, Matthew Morgan, who is representing Mayer on federal charges, declined to comment on Friday on the upcoming appeal hearing.
Details of Mayer’s work history were not included in the court documents, but his LinkedIn profile states that he started working at Bangor Penobscot Job Corps in November 2019 as a housing consultant. Prior to that, he worked from September 2008 to the fall of 2019. For RELU 71 in Belfast, including the position of third grade Ct teacher. Albert Stevens School.
According to court documents in the Elsworth court building, Meyer came to the attention of the police last June after a woman from the Waldo County contacted the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office complaining that Mayer had given her 15-year-old daughter sex toys.
Mayer took the girl to Stockton Springs, took her to his home in Baxport, ostensibly to help with the housework, but allegedly made inappropriate, hypothetical comments on her in court documents. The girl told Meier she was embarrassed by the comments, and after a while she agreed to take him back to her home in Waldo County. When they got into his car, he allegedly gave her two sex toys and asked her to send him a video recording, according to court documents.
About a week later, Bucksport police conducted a search of Mayer’s home, according to court documents, and found images of child pornography that Mayer allegedly downloaded to his desktop computer, cell phone, and several hard drives.
Mayer was initially charged in a state court with child pornography, but the charges were dropped when federal prosecutors found out that he had downloaded the pictures from Maine, a source outside the United States, and decided to prosecute him in federal court on the same charges.
Mayer is due to stand trial on Monday after changing his lawsuit.
