The annual golf championship in Mexico has moved to Florida due to COVID-19 logistical challenges for this week’s WGC Working Day Championship in 2021 at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. The Jack Nicklaus / Tony Jacklin-designed layout extends to 7,474 yards on a par of 72 as it hosts its first professional golf tournament since opening in 2006. Patrick Reed defends his WGC title from last year in Mexico City, but he stands facing a world-class WGC Workday Championship 2021 field when the game begins Thursday morning that includes world No. 1 Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau.
Defending Masters champion and 24-hour PGA Tour winner Johnson is currently the 13-2 favorite in the 2021 W21C Workday Championship odds from William Hill Sportsbook. Rahm is at 10-1, while McIlroy and Xander Schauffele are both 16-1 on the PGA odds board. Before making 2021 WGC Workday Championship selections or entering PGA DFS tournaments on sites like DraftKings and FanDuel, be sure to see the latest golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the advanced computer model at SportsLine.
SportsLine’s prediction model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been on fire since the PGA Tour’s return in June. In fact, it’s up over $ 11,100 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.
Earlier this month at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, McClure nodded Daniel Berger’s victory at +1400 in his best bets. McClure was also everywhere on Viktor Hovland’s (+2500) victory at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in December.
After nailing Sergio Garcia (+5500), who finished at the top of the leaderboard at the Sanderson Farms Championship, McClure once again finished above $ 6,200 on his best bets. The model had him in the top-five from the start, and McClure’s best play included Garcia winning directly. Those who followed this advice saw a massive +5500 return.
He also finished profitably at the US Open, nailing two of his best bets, including a +1100 top-five bet on Matthew Wolff. McClure hit a top-five bet (+1200) on Doc Redman at the Wyndham Championship and finished with over $ 700 on his best bet. These are just some of his recent big hits.
All in all, the sophisticated computer model has also nailed entire giant majors into the weekend. Anyone who has followed its golf choice have seen massive returns.
Now that the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship field is locked, SportsLine simulated the event 10,000 times and the results were surprising. Go to SportsLine now to see the expected leaderboard.
Model Top 2021 WGC-Workday Championship Predictions
A huge choker that the model demands at the WGC Workday Championship 2021: Justin Thomas, a 13-time PGA Tour winner and one of the best Vegas favorites, does not stumble and break even the top five. Thomas was one of the hottest players on tour early this season, finishing T-12 or better in each of his first six starts.
However, Thomas missed the cut last week at the Genesis Invitational after shooting a 77 in the first round. The 27-year-old attends this week’s event ranked 117th in driving accuracy (59.76), which does not bode well for his chances of finishing at the top of the leaderboard at The Concession. He is not a strong choice to win it all and there are far better values in the WGC-Workday Championship 2021 field.
Another surprise: Viktor Hovland, a 25-1 long shot, runs a strong race at the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship title. Hovland has a much better chance of winning it all than his odds suggest, so he is a target for anyone looking for a giant payday.
Hovland participates in the WGC-Workday Championship as the 14th ranked player in the world, having been there in part due to his Mayakoba Golf Classic victory in December. It was a calendar year that saw the 23-year-old from Norway win twice – when Hovland announced the Puerto Rico Open in February for his maiden victory.
Hovland has been in the mix in his last two starts, finishing second at the Farmers Insurance Open and fifth last week at the Genesis Invitational. Hovland’s iron accuracy (11th on the PGA Tour hits 72.92 percent of greens in regulation) results in lots of birds – he is 17th on tour with 4.5 birds per game. Round. With plenty of play and the ability to go low at any given time, Hovland is one of the most popular picks to be over your radar this week at the WGC-Workday Championship 2021.
How to make 2021 WGC Workday Championship picks
The model is also targeted at three other golfers with odds of 20-1 or higher to run a strong race at the title. Anyone who supports these underdogs can hit it big. You can only see them here.
