Rep Steve Scalise (R-LA)The number two Republican in the House of Representatives still refuses to admit that the 2020 presidential election was not stolen, insisting Sunday morning that “there have been some states that have not obeyed their state laws”.

Scaling, fresh from his Mar-a-Lago trip to visit former President Donald Trump, who appeared on ABC News on Sunday this week and was eventually pressured over whether he believed the twice-accused ex-President had any responsibility for the Citol insurgent uprising on Jan. January wore.

Broadcast comments from House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy last month Host Jonathan Karl condemned Trump for his role in inciting a crowd of MAGA supporters to prevent Congress from confirming President Joe Biden’s election, wondering aloud if Scalise had asked Trump if he would take responsibility.

“I was in Florida and raised funds in some parts of Florida. I ended up in Mar-a-Lago. The president visited us,” said Scalie. “I hadn’t seen him since he left the White House. It was good to catch up with him. He was much more relaxed than his four years in the White House. Still cares very much about this country and the direction of our country. “

Once again pressured by Karl whether or not Trump should take responsibility for inciting the insurrection, Scalise said the rioters should be “held accountable” while dismissing Trump’s impeachment for inciting an insurrection.

“So you’re saying he’s not responsible?” Karl pushed back.

“Look, President Trump denounced what got worse,” Scalise shrugged, telling Karl to note that Trump did not denounce the attack on the day it occurred.

Noting that the uprising was the direct result of the “big lie” When the election against Trump was “rigged”, Karl Scalise asked if he would acknowledge that Biden was the legitimate president and that the election had not been stolen.

“Look, Joe Biden is the president,” he admitted before adding, “There have been some states that have not obeyed their state laws, this is really the argument you saw next.”

Scalise, who refused to confirm Biden’s election victory on the day of the Citol uprising, was again asked by Karl whether Biden’s presidency was legitimate and whether he would “admit that this election was not stolen”.

“Once the voters are counted, he is the legitimate president,” declared the Louisiana legislature. “Look, you can warm up the elections all day from 2020 onwards, but there are people who worry about what the next elections will be.”

“Are we finally going to return to the rule of law?” Scalise closed. “And I think that’s the biggest frustration people have. Those states that have not obeyed the law, will they continue to do so, or will we revert to what the Constitution provides for the election of our leaders? “

Karl ended the interview right there, thanking the Conservative Congressman for being on his show.
