Bruce Springsteen told a park ranger he had fired two shots in the past 20 minutes but did not pass a breath test until he was arrested in New Jersey in November on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to a federal court statement on Thursday.
A Gateway National Recreation Area officer wrote in a statement of probable cause that he saw Springsteen fire tequila and then get on his motorcycle.
The officer wrote that the rocker “smelled of strong alcohol” on November 14, “has glass eyes”, that there is a bottle of Patron tequila, which is “completely empty”.
In the report, Springsteen was described as “visibly swaying back and forth” during a field sobriety test; he was said to have refused to submit a preliminary breath test sample.
Springsteen “took 45 total steps while walking, turning around instead of the assigned 18,” the officer wrote.
Springsteen did not comment publicly on the allegations. His lawyer և the publicist did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Thursday.
Springsteen got it for driving indoors for driving, driving recklessly, or drinking alcohol. He is expected to be arraigned in a remote court on the date of the decision.
The rest area is better known as Sandy Hook, the name of the narrow Atlantic peninsula on which it is located.
The arrest was first reported by TMZ.com on Wednesday and confirmed by the National Park Service on the same day.
After the news arrest, Jeep stopped the ad that was running in Kansas during Springsteen Super Bowl, urging people to find a language. In a statement, Jeep said it was suspending the commercial “until the facts are known.”
On January 20, Springsteen performed as part of President Biden’s inauguration in front of the Lincoln Memorial, singing “Land of Hope, Dreams.”
