SHANGHAI, . – Continental China reported 21 new cases of COVID-19 on December 27, down from 22 a day earlier, the country’s national health authority said on Monday.
The National Health Commission said in a statement that 15 of the new cases were imported infections.
Six local transfers, all in Liaoning Province.
The number of new asymptomatic cases, which China does not classify as confirmed, rose to 20 from the previous 15 cases the day before.
Separately, Beijing has tightened its grip on COVID-19 amid fears that mass travel to China over the holidays could exacerbate incidents in the capital, as it reported on locally transmitted incidents on Wednesday.
The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in mainland China now stands at 86,976, with the death toll remaining unchanged at 4,634.
