President Donald Trump is taken to Walter Reed Military Hospital for treatment after being tested for coronavirus
The president tweeted after his arrival: “I think it’s going well!”
Recent reports say his symptoms include low-grade fever.
So far, President Trump has been treated with an experimental drug injection and the antiviral drug remdezivir, after both he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for Covid-19.
In exactly one month, President Trump will face Joe Biden in the presidential election.
His diagnosis raised his campaign and also questioned his attempt to confirm a new Supreme Court judge before election day.
The latest update from President Trump’s doctor, Dr. Sean Conley, in a memorandum late October 2 reads: “I am happy to announce that the President is doing very well.”
He said the president did not need extra oxygen.
President Trump has been taken to hospital “with a lot of caution” with “mild symptoms” and will be there for “the next few days,” the White House said.
The list of other people who have tested positive for the president includes a close aide, Hope Hicks – who is believed to be the first to show symptoms – campaign manager Bill Stepien and former White House adviser Kelian Conway. Republican Senators Mike Lee and Tom Tillis also did well.

President Donald Trump remains in charge. Vice President Mike Pence, to whom the president would constitutionally transfer power if he falls ill to perform his duties, was negative.
Dressed in a mask and suit, President Trump walked across the White House lawn on Oct. 2 at 6:15 p.m. to his Marine helicopter for a short flight to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington.
He waved and gave his thumb to reporters, but said nothing before boarding the plane.
In an 18-second video posted on Twitter, President Trump said: “I think I’m doing very well. But we will make sure that things work out. The first lady is doing very well. So thank you very much. “
Ivanka and Eric Trump re-posted on his tweet, praising him as a “warrior.” Ivanka Trump added: “I love you Dad.”
Donald Trump Jr. said his father “obviously takes him very seriously.”
The president was received at the presidential apartment in Walter Reed, where US presidents usually conduct annual inspections.
Shortly before midnight, he tweeted again. “I think it’s going well! Thank you all. LOVE !!!
Dr Sean Conley said the president “did not need extra oxygen, but in consultation with experts we chose to start remdezivir therapy. He has completed his first dose and is resting comfortably.
Tests show that remdezivir, originally developed as a treatment for Ebola, impairs the ability of the new coronavirus to duplicate and may reduce the duration of symptoms.
On October 2, Dr. Conley said President Trump “received a dose of 8 grams of Regeneron’s antibody cocktail as a precautionary measure” at the White House.
