Incredible infrared footage appeared today, showing Costa Concordia survivors gliding on the abdomen of the injured cruise ship one by one with a rope.
A black-and-white video made by the Italian Coast Guard shows passengers queuing up to board lifeboats.
The film was released after a French survivor said today that the panicked crew was already “fleeing in their life jackets” before passengers were warned that the cruise liner was sinking.
Daniele Perusch, a 68-year-old retiree, also said the men pushed past children shouting “I don’t want to die” as they raced to escape on a sinking ship.
Daniele Perusch was traveling with an elderly friend who was celebrating her 80th birthday when chaos broke out on Friday night.
The woman said they were abandoned in the dark as the giant ship was included in the list after hitting rocks off the Italian island of Giglio.
She and her friend were having dinner when the lights went out and the dishes began to break around them, she told the French newspaper Nice-Matin.
Daniele Perruchon said: “At that moment, a loud Italian loudspeaker was said< Електрическата верига на стабилизаторите е изключена. Това не е проблем >>.
“Then, as we waited in the dim light, we saw a horrible staff rushing past us in their life jackets. People were shouting and pushing.
“I was with an elderly man and I was determined not to panic. We returned to our cabin and picked up our life jackets, then managed to reach one of the decks.
“Then we felt the ship capsize.” There was a mass panic. The ship was at a steep angle, and people were trying to reach the lifeboats, clinging to the walls.
“A woman fell on me and we crashed into a telephone booth. We managed to get into a lifeboat, but it could not go down and we were eventually taken off by the Italian Coast Guard.
“At no time did anyone come to help us. We felt abandoned. So much for women and children.
“I heard children shouting< не искам да умра >> as men slipped in, trying to get out of the boat.
Daniele Perruchon of the French Riviera resort of Menton said the cruise was designed as a “dream break” for her and her elderly friend.
She said: “We decided that the first thing we would do was go back directly to another cruise liner to defeat the fear.”
